Lake of the Ozarks
Area is comprised of Camden, Miller and Morgan counties also know as the Tri-County
Area. The Lake Area today covers approximately 54,000 acres and about is 92 miles
from end to end. Of the three
LakeOzarks
counties, according to the U.S. Census reports and country records,
Camden
County
is growing in population at a faster pace and holds the largest amount of
wealth in terms of assessed value. It is important to note that although Miller and Morgan
counties’ population growth is slower, they are both growing at a rate well above
the national average.
According
to more recent documentation of the state’s population, income and housing trends,
the growth of the
Lake Area
shows no signs of abating in the near future.
The largest age
group in the Tri-County area, according to the U.S. Census, is from 35 to 54. The
unemployment rate is nearly a full percent lower than the state average. In fact,
the job market at
Lake of the Ozarks
is at an all time high. Because the area is becoming more popular as year-round
vacation and shopping destination, the number of seasonal jobs is shrinking and
year round employment has become ’s the norm. The largest percentage of individual
earnings comes form the retail trade, healthcare, tourism related businesses and
dividends, interest and rental property.

The
Missouri
Department of Tourism estimates that between 4 and 5 million tourists visit
the Lake of the Ozarks each year and according to the Ozarks Tri-County Lodging
Association, 50% of
Missouri
residents who own a second home, own it here at the
Lake
. There is little wonder why development in the
Lake
Area
is moving forward at an amazing rate. New home construction, nationally based retail
investment and resale of existing homes and condominiums are three of the fastest
changing economic development factors in the area.
The
Lake
Area
’s greatest attraction is the lake itself, with more shoreline than the State of
California
(over 1300 miles); the
Lake
offers a wide variety of activity for almost any taste, whether it’s fishing, boating,
water skiing, sailing or relaxing by the shoreline and enjoying the views.
